Tanys Transformations

Transforming Dresses – Transforming Lives – Transforming Communities

About The Project –  The CIC

ABOUT THE PROJECT – The Seven Stages.

The Project aims to support the community and combat loneliness and reduce the likely hood of mental health problems. We reach out to individuals and communities to deal with life events in a collective way which increases self-worth and celebrates creativity and positivity.

  • We primarily source the wedding dresses from charity shops and donations
  • We seek out existing and potential groups and individuals to transform the dresses into unique fashion statements. We aim in particular to engage with people who are or have experienced life challenging events.
  • Our transformers are supported throughout the process and are encouraged to meet and talk through a series of events including sewing and colouring groups (sew-ins)
  • Each creation is fully documented and explained to become an inspiration for those that worked on the dress and for those who experience the outcome.
  • We celebrate the designs in carefully orchestrated fashion shows, catwalks, exhibitions and town trails.
  • We provide basic model training and support for those who may or may not want to take to the stage!
  • We measure the outcomes and look to fund local charities to make targeted interventions from the knowledge we have gleaned from the programme.
