Over last two years the project has attracted widespread attention and acclaim. Receiving extensive recognition which has highlighted its uniqueness. Showing in a positive light the many people who have worked so hard to make the projects success possible.
From the very start of the process we source the wedding dresses by either purchasing from Charity shops or from donations. Most are normally white. Sometimes we provide redesign and upscaling support but on other occasions the Transformers ( our band of volunteers) undertake this process themselves.

Tanys Transformations CIC – The initiative which up-cycles former wedding dresses into amazing fashion statements for charity is back in the beautiful Wells Museum.
The exhibition follows an incredible year in which the 2023/4 Mayors Appeal headed by Tanys Kolizeras (the 649th Mayor of Wells) has grown into a fully-fledged social enterprise. (Community Interest Company -CIC) The project has engaged with over a 1000 volunteers, transforming over 120 dresses and brought to life by 60 supporting models that have ranged in age from 13 to over 80. In the process over £10,000 has been directly raised for charity as well as supporting a host of local causes.
There are are over 65 dresses on display each with a unique story and purpose – together with photographic extracts from the past years amazing modelling and events programme.
So enjoy visiting this unique exhibition of creative fashion design with a purpose of bring people together whilst being fun and artistic.
What better way to spend a day in Wells who knows you may even find it transformational!

About Tanys Transformations cic
Tanys Transformations CIC is a social enterprise which creates life changing opportunities through the reuse and repurposing of former wedding dresses. We engage and empower individuals and communities by providing a focal point for freedom of expression. We aim to do this by creativity through fashion and design. We hope to build confidence by being part of our team. We encourage positive body image whilst improving mental health for all. By working together on the project we strive to combat loneliness and isolation.

About the makers and designers of the dresses - “The Transformers”
By reusing wedding dresses and other garments, we are able to repurpose them to give new lives to the items we work on. The original garments have to be shown respect as they are not only unique but also often hold sentimental value. Each dress tells a story of love, happiness, and unity, and by extending their purpose beyond the wedding day, we are able to spread joy and make a difference in the lives of others.
The transformation process involves many hands, the volunteers carefully modify the dresses to suit the style and elegance of the original gown. Often embellishments and accessories are added. We aim to ensure that every dress maintains its individual charm while also embracing the glamour and sophistication needed for a memorable night.
The funds raised through the sale or rent of these transformed dresses will benefit local charities in our community.
